Koryo Town in Nara Prefecture, where the sock mill is located, is in the Yamato Basin surrounded by gentle mountains, and is a town with a history and textile industry that still has many ruins from the Kofun period. The cotton industry flourished during the Edo period, and socks manufacturing began at the end of the Meiji period. It developed into a "sock town'', boasting the highest volume of socks in Japan. Although the number has decreased dramatically since its peak, there are still many peripheral industries related to sock manufacturing, and it is the main industry of the city.
Through their socks, they practice a high quality of life with consideration for the environment, and if this becomes part of a culture, they believe that they will have had a small positive impact on human history.
